Start of BerlinCalling
BerlinCalling Seeks Creative Artists For Its Mobile Content Platform BerlinCalling.de, the innovative artist network for mobile visuals and sounds launches on Tuesday, October 9th, 2007. The market for mobile entertainment is booming. More and more companies want to refresh their brands with mobile marketing campaigns. They want to address their target group with surprising ideas, in part via their mobile phone. BerlinCalling delivers the necessary basis for this in form of a comprehensive database with high-quality, entertaining top content in a spectrum of categories especially created for and compatible with mobile use. The content comes from creative artists worldwide. BerlinCalling offers the appropriate “social network” to address and recruit artists with their web portal that profiles artists, allows them to contact one another and where they can present their video, audio or animation creations. The decisive difference to previous community portals: the artist participates directly in BerlinCalling’s revenue. The portal BerlinCalling.de acts as an interface between artists and the industry. Worldwide distribution contracts with mobile phone operators and marketing aggregators have been negotiated. BerlinCalling guarantees its contractual artists a fair and transparent share of 50% from the generated revenue, without the artists giving up their copyrights. The idea for BerlinCalling originates from nonetheless than Tom Lang. Lang is a musician and video artist from Berlin, who has contributed to over 50 film and advertising productions. With BerlinCalling he would like to provide both artists and businesses with a point of contact. Lang, himself a producer and content manager for Jamba and Buogiorno, has learned from his experience in the market and he wishes to get into action worldwide with his alternative offer. For the initiator, transparency and fair trade are in the foreground, especially in this era of digital theft. At the time of the new platform’s launch, BerlinCalling already has contracts with the distribution partners Materna and arenamobile, thereby guaranteeing a presence not only in the European market, but in the Asian Pacific market as well. Contracts are in preparation with further partners for a worldwide orientation. More so, BerlinCalling wirks closely together with the Art Directors Club Germany (ADC).
